Some highlights of what to expect at the 2019 Provincial Championships:

• Special Guest, “Honorary Tournament Marshall”, Jennifer Lucore, a professional pickleball player, Global Pickleball Ambassador,  International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) Founding Member and Level II Pickleball Certified Teaching Professional, 17-time USAPA National Champion, 11-time Canadian Champion, 4-time International Champion, many golds at Professional Pickleball Federation Tournaments and U.S. Opens and co-author of the “History of Pickleball – More than 50 years of Fun!”  will be with us prior to the tournament and during the tournament weekend. This will be a great opportunity to meet a legend in the game of Pickleball.

• Nine courts set up in the Main Keating Arena with great space between the courts and plenty of spectator seating.

• We are encouraging the registration of younger players to form under 18 player divisions (singles, doubles and mixed doubles). If you have youth players in your club who would be interested in registering, please let us know.

• In addition to the championship tournament, there will be a special round-robin tournament for new players or those who are not ready for a high level of competition. This round-robin format is organized by skill levels and played over a 150-minute time period. Participants will play a minimum of six games, each with a different partner and against a different pair of opponents. It is designed so that all players are playing against people of roughly equal ability, which makes play the most fun and reasonably competitive for the majority of players.

Provincial Championships Tournament General Registration Information:

• Open to Residents of Nova Scotia Only;
• All participants must be current Pickleball Canada/Pickleball Nova Scotia members;
• This tournament will be a Pickleball Canada (PCO) Sanctioned Tier III Tournament;
• Round-Robin with elimination round;
• All events will be divided into the following age groups (as of December 31, 2019): 12+, 18+, 35+, 50 – 54, 55 – 59, 60 – 64, 65 – 69 and 70+. Depending on the number of entries for each of these age groupings, the Draw Master reserves the right to combine divisions to meet Pickleball Canada Sanctioned Tier III Tournament guidelines;
• Every effort will be made to stagger the schedule start time of each event in order to ensure participants have relatively short wait times between matches;
• If you wish to participate in doubles play but are unable to find a partner, please highlight that when registering and every effort will be made to secure you a partner;
• Players can play down in age grouping but not up. Exception is players over 18 cannot play down in the 12+ division;
• Scorekeepers, if available, will be used in the semi-finals and finals;
• Provincial Championship Ball: TBD.

Provincials Companion Tournament Event General Registration Information:

• Open to Residents of Nova Scotia Only;
• All participants must be current Pickleball Canada/Pickleball Nova Scotia members;
• The Companion Tournament Event will use a “Round Robin” structured form of play organized by skill levels. In the time allocated to each Round Robin session (150 minutes), participants will play six games, each with a different partner and against a different pair of opponents;
• Three divisions are planned for the tournament: Novice “Ladies Only” (Skill Level 1.5 – 2.0), Intermediate 1 Open* (Skill Level 1.5 – 2.5) and Intermediate 2 Open* (Skill level 2.5+);
• The tournament is designed so that players are playing against participants of roughly equal ability.
• Companion Tournament Ball: TBD.
