Pickleball Nova Scotia has a variety of trained instructors across the province who would be available for personal one-on-one instruction or for group instruction and each has achieved a different level of training and certification. If you, your venue or your community is interested in introductory “learn-to-play” instruction or some organized “skills and drills” sessions, take a look at the list below to find a suitable instructor in your area.
Pickleball Canada is recognized as the National Association for our sport but in order to become officially registered as a National Sports Organization in Canada, one of the many requirements is that they follow a Coaching Development Program that conforms to the rigorous guidelines of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). A workgroup from the Pickleball Association of Ontario (PAO) started the development of a Pickleball Coach Development program on behalf of Pickleball Canada and with guidance from Pickleball Canada and each of the provincial pickleball organizations, they have produced their program draft back in 2020. In September, 2021, a long term agreement was formed between Pickleball Canada and Tennis Canada to work together on the creation and delivery of a formal NCCP Approved Multi Tier Instructor Program as shown here.
Prior to this new program being rolled out, most pickleball instructors seeking a training option have been able to take part in programs offered by a US-based organization called the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association or IPTPA. However, you can be rest assured that now that an NCCP certification program has become available, the majority of these instructors will be seeking their NCCP certification as well once the clinics begin rolling out to cities and towns here in Atlantic Canada early in 2022.
In the meantime, the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) is one of the world’s leading associations of Certified Pickleball Teaching Professionals, viewed and highly respected as an organization of knowledgeable experts and industry innovators. Their intent is to raise the standards of Pickleball excellence on a world wide basis and to work in conjunction with the USAP to help grow the sport of Pickleball. The list of instructors provided below are either currently certified by the IPTPA, have taken part in the IPTPA training program but have not yet written their IPTPA Certification Exam or have been trained by a certified IPTPA Level II Instructor.
